Straight of Origin Teams announced

Queensland is looking to defend their inter-state bragging rights after naming its team to take on NSW in this year’s $40,000 to the winner Terry Hill Straight of Origin at Capalaba on Sunday, June 1.

Queensland’s team will be headlined by star sprinter Daysea’s Rory from the in-form Tom Tzouvelis kennel, along with track record holder Rio Will Rock for Jason Schmidt. Robert Ayres’ young gun, Blue Art, and Casey Dargusch’s consistent straight tracker, Bye Bye Swiper, round out the Queensland team.

New South Wales will be looking to regain the Straight of Origin shield in 2025, with Badger’s Beast for leading trainer Peter Lagogiane, Jazzy Ethics and Express Ethics for David Smith, along with Logie Magic for Carole Eaton. 

A random box draw will be conducted manually by QRIC Stewards on Sunday, May 25.
